As we change seasons in Grand Rapids, the staff at Uptown is taking time to reflect on the events of the summer. The most recent Uptown event took place in the last week of September. With over ten participating restaurants in the neighborhood, the Taste of Uptown event will continue to grow in the following years. Also this summer, Uptown installed new wayfinding signs throughout our four districts, meant to increase walkability in the area. The WayUp! Scavenger Hunt event encouraged customers to visit their favorite stores in Uptown, take pictures with business-specific hashtags, and enjoy deals and promotions! We awarded two winners, who visited every participating business, with gift baskets. This event was a huge success! With over twenty-five participating businesses, from restaurants to retail, this event created buzz on social media and encouraged customers to walk through our districts! Uptown was also nominated for the best district promotion by the Neighborhood Business Awards, for our use of the Wayfinding signs! Our next event, Shop Hop will take place on December 3rd 2019, and has been a huge success in the past by bringing shoppers to Uptown with free shuttles, tons of promotions, and freebies!
