Who loves a scavenger hunt? And not just any scavenger hunt. A HOLIDAY scavenger hunt. A hunt, for holiday elves…egregiously, obnoxiously, almost fearsomely cheerful holiday elves. A hunt in which you support local Uptown GR businesses just by playing along. One that is for players of ALL ages – and that enters you to win PRIZES. You do! You do! YOU ALL DO!
Well, you’re in luck. From the always musing, tinkering and incredibly creative minds of Team Uptown, comes our very first ever district-wide Holiday Elf Scavenger Hunt. And here’s how to get in on the easy-to-play fun.
Beginning on Small Business Saturday (that’s today – November 26th) and until the annual Uptown Shop Hop event on Thursday, December 7th, you’re invited to head to Uptown where your mission is to help locate twenty elven mugshots.
Where might you find said mugshots? They’re tucked away and hiding, inside of 90 different small businesses, scattered across all four of our bustling business districts – Eastown, East Hills, Wealthy Street, and East Fulton. Take a look at this MAP. Each of these businesses is currently an elf hideout, and the only way to find the elf hidden there is to visit and, well, look. High and low, up and around…they’re pretty good hiders, elves are. You know?

What do you do once you find an elf? First, you’ll laugh. Then, you’ll record the elf’s name on your handy dandy elf scavenger hunt player’s card. You can score one of these cards at any of the participating businesses. Or you can simply print your own – just click here.
Each and every elf has their own sparkly, silly name, and only WE know what each of those names are. Your task is to jot down those names. Twenty, to be exact. Yep. That means visiting at least twenty of our participating businesses. We repeat. No two elves are named the same!
While you’re there, in these small businesses, seeking your elves – well then. You may as well stay awhile, right? Take a look around. Check out what that shop is all about. Scope that restaurant’s menu. Take a moment and see if that establishment offers gift cards. Maybe cross a few things off that holiday gift list while you’re there.
Oh! Hey, here’s an even better idea. Use this opportunity to hunt YOUR twenty elves, by choosing businesses on our list that maybe you’ve never been to before. May as well, right? Consider it a two-fer. Snag an elf name…and perhaps find a new Uptown local biz fave, while you’re at it.
So. What’s next? Once you’ve captured the names of twenty elves, you’ll return your completed player’s card, and here’s the catch. You may only turn your card in, in person. Starting today, completed cards can be dropped off to either Basic Bee Boutique, or Rebel. On the day of Shop Hop (only), we’ll offer two additional places for drop-offs – the Five Star Real Estate Wealthy St. Office, or Hermitage at Diamond (each of which will be serving as Uptown warming station hubs for event-goers).
Your completed card will then be entered into a drawing for one of three prizes. Each prize will be comprised of locally sourced goodies from businesses located right here in Uptown. Prizes fun enough to make YOU so egregiously giddy and cheery, that you’ll make our sneaky (but undeniably cute) elves proud of you for getting on their level. Good luck – and start seeking, NOW!
